Up Date: 6-16-2008

As I have mentioned in the past few weeks the Giant Side Rally is dedicated to making this rally a real "club" event. For the past few weeks I have received some very excited notes from clubs who will be here. We have created a club section on the web site and as you can see the logo of the clubs are starting to build up. We encourage everyone out there who is a member of a club to send in your logo so we can post them on the site. As I have mentioned we will have contests between the clubs and will have a section at the Panhandle South Plains Fairgrounds registration to display the different banners. Please forward the club logo to: marti@buffalospringslaketriathlon.com and she will get them posted.

The final permit information for Thunder In The Tunnel will be turned over to the city authorities within a few days. Everything points towards a great event for those loud bikes who want to show off a little. It has been a up hill battle all the way, even with the requirement to have the Lubbock Fire Department pass on it. Now, everyone has passed on it and I just need a couple of more signatures from some local residents in the area, and it is a done deal. At this time I see no problems with getting it done.

Civic Lubbock is making it possible for the Rally to have the best local music possible. The initial grant payment was received last Friday and we will be booking local bands for the Rally. We are also meeting with Don Caldwell on Wednesday to start the initial planning for the Rally music and venue. Since the Lone Star Amphitheater has been having some real legal problems with the Liquor Control Board we are exploring our options outside this venue. We will know something by Wednesday and will make an announcement concerning the venue site for our music.

The chuck wagon cook off is also shaping up and will be held at the Fairgrounds. We have commitments from some wagons at this time and it should grow within a few weeks.

The day rides from the Fairgrounds is also looking very good and we will need volunteer guides to lead these rides. Anyone interested, please contact: Mike Greer, 806.535.1224 cell or mikeg82617@aol.com.

Many thanks for all your support.
